|Poor governance, lack of accountability and corruption are known to adversely affect the development outcomes across all sectors. Better governance in health sector entails having standards, basic information on performance, incentives for good performance and more importantly “accountability’ where officials are called to account and to answer for responsibilities and conduct (OED 1989).
In addition to supply side governance, there is increasing appreciation of the need for promoting the “demand” side governance and providing voice to the consumers through enhance social accountability. Improving governance therefore will have notable impact in improving the health outcomes.
The governance and Service Delivery COP will focus on three main areas of work:
|A sound health system use a wide range of overlapping and complementary health service delivery strategies to achieve it's goals. the right mix and balance of strategies and/or platforms will depend on the context, the available inputs, the managerial capacity, the governance arrangements the objectives and values of the system. In short one cannot consider the HSD block outside it's relations with the other blocks.
This community nevertheless tries to work specifically on those platforms that are used to provide service using the input blocks to get results.
A second focus of the community is to bring together institutional actors working at community health level to try define a common understanding of a sound community health package that maximize results for population.
